In Tamil Nadu State of India, as in other parts of the country, the economic drivers have changed, with the developing demographic, social and cultural circumstances of civil society. Diversified employment opportunities require specialized knowledge and technical skills. Therefore, technical education and skill development are becoming ever more important to lead a successful life. These changes, which require both reflection and adjustment, are often summarized by saying that India is moving into a knowledge-based economy.

 Our vision is to be an institution with a global reputation in academic excellence and application of technology in the field. 

Mission

The Nammazhvar College of Agriculture and Technology (NCAT) will advance and share knowledge, discover solutions and promote opportunities in food and agriculture, bio-energy, environment and human well-being.

As an institution engaged in Agricultural Education, will be responsive to the needs and demands of civil society for knowledge that will address challenges in agriculture at present and in the near future. As a world-class institution, will be an innovative and internationally competitive at the supply side of knowledge creation, dissemination and application in the field.

And that defines our mission statement – what we aim to do. We aim:

  • To deliver teaching of the highest quality in agricultural sciences and technology development and dissemination
  • To be a world-class research-intensive institution in sustainable agriculture to cater to the needs of the farming community and their economic uplifting
  • To provide expert services to our farmers, citizens, communities and businesses
  • To play a leading role in the economic, social and cultural
    development of the semiarid regions of the Southern Districts of Tamil Nadu in general and Ramanathapuram District in particular.

Guiding Principles

            The Nammazhvar College of Agriculture and Technology (NCAT) aims to impart knowledge through innovative teaching and training to its students and to provide the foundation for excellence in our teaching and outreach.
